What is fucoxanthin?

Fucoxanthin is a xanthophyll, it is found as an accessory pigment in the chloroplasts of brown algae, giving them a brown or olive-green color. It is a major carotenoid present in both brown macro algae and microalgae with significant bioactivities. It can activate cell metabolism, improve liver and pancreas function, help blood sugar and lipids degradation, enhance detoxification of liver, and relieve inflammation.
